Parking Lot Size Calculator

The Parking Lot Size Calculator is designed to help you quickly and easily calculate the necessary dimensions of a parking lot, including the total area, number of parking spaces, and space area per parking spot.

This tool offers both a Basic Calculator and an Advanced Calculator for different scenarios, whether you’re calculating the size of a standard lot or need to consider handicap spaces.

Parking Lot Size Calculator

Enter any 2 values to calculate the missing variable

Number of Spaces:

Area per Space (ft²/space):

Parking Lot Size (ft²):

Total Parking Lot Size (ft²):

Average Space Size (ft²/space):

Required Handicap Spaces (%):

Total Handicap Space Area (ft²):

To use the Basic Calculator:

  1. Enter any two of the following values: Number of Spaces, Area per Space (ft²/space), or Parking Lot Size (ft²).
  2. Leave one field empty, and the calculator will automatically calculate the missing value when you press the Calculate button.
  3. If you wish to reset the fields, click the Reset button.

For more advanced calculations, the Advanced Calculator allows you to estimate the area required for handicap parking spaces:

  1. Enter the Total Parking Lot Size (ft²), Average Space Size (ft²/space), and Required Handicap Spaces (%).
  2. Press the Calculate button to determine the Total Handicap Space Area (ft²).

How to calculate

Example 1: Basic Calculator

Step Calculation
Number of Spaces 50 spaces
Area per Space (ft²) 300 ft²/space
Parking Lot Size (ft²) (to be calculated)
Multiply Spaces by Area 50 × 300 = 15,000 ft²

In this example, the number of spaces and area per space are provided, and the calculator determines that the total parking lot size is 15,000 ft².

Example 2: Advanced Calculator

Step Calculation
Total Parking Lot Size (ft²) 20,000 ft²
Average Space Size (ft²/space) 300 ft²/space
Required Handicap Spaces (%) 10%
Calculate Handicap Area 20,000 × (10 / 100) = 2,000 ft²

In the advanced example, the total handicap space area is calculated based on the total parking lot size and the percentage of handicap spaces required. Here, 10% of a 20,000 ft² lot is dedicated to handicap parking, resulting in 2,000 ft² of handicap space.
